From Ground to Guardrail

While you may not have heard of Eramet Marietta, Ohio, you’ve almost certainly benefitted from our products. From the guardrails that keep you safe on the highways, to the stainless-steel appliances in your kitchen, to the cars that get you around town, all are made safer, stronger and lighter because of manganese.

Manganese is most used in the steelmaking process, used as an additive to improve steel’s tensile strength, toughness, and wear resistance. It is also commonly found in household items such as dry-cell batteries, aluminium products, and occasionally even in coins.
